Nursery Funding

We allocate our places on a ‘first come first served’ basis so we would recommend getting your application in as early as possible. All 3 to 4 year olds in England can get 570 free hours per year of childcare. This is usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year.

Bentfield Primary School has 2 year groups – Rising 3’s and Rising 4’s. In each year groups there are 24 places of 15 hours each. 2 additional places in each year group are ring fenced for children with Special Educational Needs.

For children who are entitled to 30 hours funding they have the option at attend all day – however as a full week exceeds the 30 hours allocation there may be some weekly charges (please see the table of charges). The morning and afternoon sessions add up to 30 hours, however the 5 lunchtimes will take you over your weekly allocation, so for a child who is entitled to 30 hours per week government funding, there will also be a weekly fees charge of £10 to cover the lunchtime attendance.

We usually offer your child to start attending our Nursery during the term that they will turn 3 years old (e.g if your child turns 3 in February they will be offered a place starting in the Spring Term that runs from January - March).

At this point your child would NOT be eligible for the 15 or 30 hours government funding and so if you choose to send your child in you will need to pay for the sessions they attend.

You are under no obligation to send your child in at this point and can wait until the funding is available for your child before they start with us.

The 15 or 30 hours Government funding is available in the school term after your child is 3 (i.e. they would have to be 3 BEFORE the first day of the start of the school term, if your child’s birthday falls on the start day of the school term I am afraid they WOULD NOT be eligible for government funding until the following term).

Voucher Payments
For Parents who are eligible, you can pay for Nursery Fees with Childcare Vouchers. Please contact our school office or your voucher provider to see if we use or are listed on your childcare voucher provider website.

School Lunches
School lunches are available to be booked for your child if they are staying during the lunch time period. There is a charge of £2.75 for a lunch.

Snack Money
A healthy snack is provided for every child at each session (Morning and Afternoon) – there is a small charge for the provision of this snack, 30p per session. These charges will be applied on a weekly basis according to your child’s attendance at Nursery (e.g.
15 hours attendance = 5 sessions per week x 30p per session so the snack charge each week is £1.50).

Forest School
Our Nursery children regularly attend Forest School. There is a small termly charge of £2 to cover the cost of the activities and resources used here.
