Oak Class - Year 6

Harvest Festival Assembly

Our new Year 6 Sports Ambassadors

Days out with Tom, Tomas and Aurora

Tom, Tomas and Aurora had a lovely few days at school together whilst Oak class were on their residential. They all enjoyed walking to the shop to get ingredients for their cakes and buying treats!

They loved getting on the train to Bishop's Stortford for a trip to the bowling alley which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Finally, an outing to the park in the sunshine to end a great few fun days.

PGL - Day 1

After a smooth journey to PGL Bawdsey, we arrived and went straight to our accommodation. After settling in, we had a tour from our group leader, Chloe around the site before some free time. After some outdoor play, we had our first trip to the dining room for our dinner of lasagne or sausage roll. The flavoured water dispenser was definitely a big hit! Our evening activity was water splash, taking part in competitions to earn items to protect a water balloon from smashing when dropped. Unfortunately, none of the water balloons survived, but Chloe still let the children tip the left over bucket of water over her! Tomorrow, we look forward to climbing, archery, canoeing and orienteering.

PGL - Day 2

Today began with breakfast at 7:30am (maybe a little earlier for some!) of sausages, hash browns and beans with toast and cereal available as well. Our morning activities were archery and climbing, with everyone giving it a real good go and improving with every try. Lunch was pizza and chips, which was followed by a trip to the gift shop. In the afternoon, we took part in orienteering and canoeing - which seemed to involve quite a large amount of swimming as well! After a quick shower and change of clothes, we had dinner of fish fingers or turkey meatballs. Our evening activity was camp fire with some fun songs and marshmallows cooked over the fire. An action-packed, fun-filled day.

PGL - Day 3

Breakfast again at 7:30 this morning - bacon today. Our morning activities were the challenge course and zip wire where great fun was had by all. In the afternoon, we had a go at the 3G swing and went on a coastal walk in the lovely surroundings area.

Welcome Back to the New Academic Year!

Hi Everyone

Welcome back! I have attached the class newsletter and overview that will be emailed this week and included a few essential reminders below.

PE and Forest School

PE lessons take place on a Monday and Friday this term. As children will now be bringing their PE kits into school to change, it is always a good idea to bring them in on a Monday and keep them in school all week. PE kits should be a plain (or Bentfield logo) white or red t-shirt and black shorts, leggings or track suit bottoms.

We will be having Forest School/outdoor learning sessions twice per half term - as soon as I am made aware of dates I will email the information to you so the children can bring in the correct clothing.

Homework

A new homework grid has been stuck into your child’s homework book and was sent home with a copy of the new grid last week. Spellings are set weekly in class and can be practised at home however we cover a variety of spelling activities each morning to reinforce spelling rules and patterns as well as definitions. If you would like to practise these at home they can be accessed on Spelling Frame - your child has their own log in details. Alternatively, I have attached the statutory spelling list for Years 3/4 and 5/6 - these cover all the rules the children are required to learn.

Regular reading at home is essential to develop fluency and pace. A combination of reading alone and reading to an adult or sibling is a good idea for year 6 pupils.

It is always a good idea to revise times tables regularly to ensure that they are not forgotten.
