Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers. Children are eligible for pupil premium funding if they have been in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) at any point over the past six years (excluding Universal Free School Meals) or have been looked after for one day or more (Child Looked After). A provision is also made for children who have a parent in the armed services.

Pupils in the first three years of school (Reception and Key Stage 1) are eligible for free school meals through the Universal Free School Meals Scheme. Therefore, funding for children in these groups will now be allocated by completing an application through the school office. If you think that you qualify please pick up a form or come and speak to a senior member of staff.

Parents or guardians receiving the following benefits can claim Free School Meals:

  •     Income Support
  •     Jobseekers Allowance (Income Based)
  •     Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  •     Child Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of less than £16190
  •     Pension Guarantee Credit
  •     Support under Part VI Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

You will normally be eligible for Free School Meals if you receive any amount of Working Tax Credit.

Bentfield Primary School is committed to ensuring maximum progress for all groups of children and strives to close any gaps in achievement. We have a clear, strategic approach to the use of specific pupil premium funding, and plans are integrated into the wider school support and improvement systems. These are monitored and evaluated regularly and in depth analysis ensures that the correct support and strategies are identified to maximise progress.
